National Association for Legalized Street Racing Announces 2011 Event Schedule

North Hollywood, CA, February 11, 2011 – The National Association for Legalized Street Racing (NALSR) has announced their schedule for the inaugural season beginning in the spring of 2011.

The 2011 schedule consists of five events beginning on May 14th at San Antonio Raceway in San Antonio, Texas.  The additional NALSR events include; June 10th at Houston Motorsports Park in Houston, Texas, July 30th at Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, North Carolina, August 27th at Virginia Motorsports Park in Petersburg, Virginia and September 2nd at Dallas Raceway in Dallas, Texas.

NALSR Founder and President Jeremy J. Ford said, “We are pleased to announce the 2011 NALSR schedule of events and are excited about working with our partner tracks in producing professional events for the competitors, the fans and our sponsors.  The tracks that we have as partners share the same mission as NALSR in getting the street racers off the street and onto the track.  Many tracks across the country feature some level of street racing program but NALSR is the only series that provides a national platform for the competitors.  The NALSR events will compliment what the tracks are already doing and gives street racers the opportunity to showcase their cars and their driving skills.  For the first time ever, street racers will be able to see how they match up with other street racers on a national level.”

The tracks across the country that have partnered with NALSR for the inaugural season view the partnership as an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on illegal street racing in their communities.  Rockingham Dragway Owner Steve Earwood said, “Illegal street racing unfortunately has become more common with the resurgence of American-Made Muscle Cars and the advent of the performance Import/Sport Compact scene.  We at Rockingham Dragway encourage our youths with these performance cars and motorcycles to do their racing at our facility where it is safe, insured and supervised.  We are honored to have been selected by the National Association for Legal Street Racing to host one of their events this season.”  And Freddy Cruz at San Antonio Raceway said, I would also like to say that we at San Antonio raceway are very excited to be working with NALSR and help in anyway we can to get national recognition for our racers and to support continued efforts to keep racers off the streets.”

The racers will compete for cash and prizes that will be awarded in multiple classes.  The NALSR events will also feature an entertaining fan experience with several off track activities including a car show, music, interactive games and contests, and a display area with vendors and sponsors.  “Our goal is to produce events that cater to the street racer lifestyle.  We want to create an environment that is exciting, fun and safe for the competitors and the fans.  We are very excited about the future of legalized street racing and the inaugural season for NALSR in 2011.” said Ford.

2011 NALSR Schedule

San Antonio Raceway -May 14

Houston Motorsports Park – June 10

Rockingham Dragway – July 30

Virginia Motorsports Park  - August 27

Illegal Street Racing Becomes a Legalized Sport

New racing series launches in 2011 to get illegal street racers off the streets and onto the track

North Hollywood, CA, December 2, 2010 – The National Association for Legalized Street Racing (NALSR) is planning the launch of its inaugural season in the spring of 2011 with the primary goal to address the growing concerns associated with street racing by providing racers with a safe, entertaining and controlled environment to race their street cars. NALSR CEO & President, Jeremy J. Ford established the organization in 2008 to give credibility to the sport, promote safety and competition, and to highlight some of the best drivers on the road.“After forming NALSR in 2008, we promoted a few events in 2009 and 2010 to see how receptive the street racing community would be to participating in an organized street racing event,” said Ford. “What we learned in 2009 and 2010 led us to decide to launch a full series of events in 2011.”
What makes NALSR unique is its national database of competitors and its on-line community. Each competitor’s name, location, vehicle description, quickest time and fastest speed are registered into the national database. This allows NALSR members to see how they match up against the best street racers nationwide. Members can also interact and exchange information and ideas. “No longer will street racing be stigmatized by its reckless past which has been highly publicized and profiled by the media in a negative light,” said Ford. “The media will now be able to profile the street racing community for their driving talent, fast cars, and racing sport credibility. Street racing now has a time and a place on the track that will be operated in a sophisticated, safe and organized manner. Historically, street racers have pursued their passion for competition at great risk of losing their cars, driving privileges and possibly their lives.”
NALSR is currently teaming up with race tracks across the country to develop a national schedule of events. Street racers nationwide will have the opportunity to showcase their street cars and demonstrate their driving skill. At the same time, the events will also feature an entertaining fan experience. The series will culminate with a championship at season’s end with cash prizes awarded in multiple classes.

NALSR – National Association for Legalized Street Racing
“We made the official announcement at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show in Las Vegas last month and the response has been fantastic,” said Ford. “The media has embraced the concept as have many top brands, organizations and non-profits. These companies have identified NALSR has an ideal marketing vehicle to reach a very specialized consumer demographic. They understand that street racing is a lifestyle and that the street racers embrace companies and products that support and embrace their lifestyle. We also have a lot of interest from tracks and communities nationwide as they see the value in getting the racing off the street and onto the track. More importantly, the street racers are very enthusiastic and that’s who NALSR is for. We are very excited about the future of legalized street racing and the inaugural season for NALSR in 2011.”

More information about NALSR and its debut season will be announced in the near future.

Posted in Uncategorized on November 2, 2010 by Itzen News

The first day of SEMA was impressive as always. Cars, people, and products hailed from around the world to take part in and see the spectacle that is SEMA. SEMA is the world’s biggest car show complete with parts, cars, vendors, celebrities, race car drivers, and more. According to wikipedia, “Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) of the automobile aftermarket was formed in 1963 by Roy Richter, Ed Iskenderian, Willie Garner, Bob Hedman, John Bartlett, Phil Weiand, Jr., Al Segal, Dean Moon, and Vic Edelbrock, Jr. and now consists of 7,144 companies worldwide, bringing together aftermarket manufacturers, original equipment manufacturers, media, car dealers, specialty equipment distributors, installers, retailers and restoration specialists.”

In other words, SEMA is the place to be. It’s the ultimate experience for any gear head, and this year ItzenNews was lucky enough to go.  Below you will find pictures taken during day one of SEMA 2010. What will the following days produce? “What happens at SEMA doesn’t stay at SEMA, it is broadcast all over the world.” Check back tomorrow for pictures from day two!

Ricer donk: Mitsubishi Eclipse on 28 inch wheels

Posted in Uncategorized on September 17, 2010 by Itzen News

When it comes to being tacky, standing out from a crowd, and possessing extreme fabrication qualities the Mitsubishi Eclipse on 28 inch wheels is turning heads and causing laughter everywhere it goes. Sure it might be ugly and have no use other than causing controversy, but one must consider the fabrication and creativity it takes to make a vehicle so unique. First we saw a slew of 2010 Camaro donks, a Dodge Charger one 30′s, and now the Mitsubishi Eclipse on 28′s!  A member on the Car Domain blog post suggested that we modify a Toyota Prius into a donk.  I haven’t seen one yet, but I’m sure there’s somebody out there building it. Read more about the Mitsubishi Eclipse on 28′s and check out other donkified rides at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Bugatti EB110 SS gets towed

Posted in Uncategorized on September 17, 2010 by Itzen News

Towing an exotic sports car like the Bugatti EB110 SS is much harder than just throwing it on the flatbed. Thanks to an extremely long nose and low ground clearance, you better have a knowledgeable tower or face the consequences. Replacement of parts on a Bugatti EB110 SS is just as about expensive as buying a new one! If you have any signs of wear or any indication your car might need a tow, just take it to the dealer for inspection. The following Bugatti EB110 suffers from a failed clutch, leaving it stranded. Will the Bugatti make it up on the flatbed without harm? Watch and find out! Read more about the Bugatti EB110 SS being towed at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

AWD Chevrolet Van Beats Corvette ZR1

Posted in Uncategorized on September 6, 2010 by Itzen News

An unusual outcome to an odd race, a modified all-wheel drive Chevrolet Express full size van actually beat a Corvette ZR1 down the quarter mile. Thanks to a bad start by the ZR1, the AWD van had a perfect launch into the finish. Even though the race was totally decided by the ZR1′s bad launch, I find it interesting that even with a bad launch the ZR1 couldn’t keep up with the 7,000 pound van. There’s something strangely wrong with this situation! Read more about the van smoking a ZR1 at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Bentley Continental GT crash

Posted in Uncategorized on August 29, 2010 by Itzen News

In the hands of an idiot, anything is possible. The following video shows a pristine Bentley Continental GT being used and abused in all the worse ways. First of all, you’ll notice the car is driven down a muddy road and then parked in the ditch. Second, the driver decides to show off for the crowd and mash the throttle despite the lurking dangers. There isn’t too many ways you can fail with a Bentley, but this is totally one of them. Sliding through the mud and proceeding to slam into an SUV, the Bentley is destroyed. Losing it’s OEM freshness to the likes of a mud ridden destruction derby, this poor Bentley never saw it coming. I’d rather see this car driven through the sands of outer Dubai instead of sloshing around in the mud; at least the sand is easy to clean. Epic Honda NSX video

Posted in Uncategorized on August 29, 2010 by Itzen News

The Honda and Acura NSX is considered the ultimate in JDM automotive culture. Sure the Toyota Supra and Nissan Skyline’s walk amongst the gods, but they aren’t anywhere near the level of perfection the NSX has reached. Thanks to limited production and mass appeal, the NSX has overtime become a legend. Legendary vehicles like the NSX, Ford GT, Saleen S1, McLaren F1, and others are a few who walk in the chosen path. Highlighting this mass appeal, the following NSX video is worth of the title epic because it captures this blessing in true form. Enjoy the following video, it’s quite the artistic automotive rush we’ve all grown to crave. Read more about the NSX at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

The Ultimate Supra Video

Posted in Uncategorized on August 28, 2010 by Itzen News

When it comes to bringing Supra culture into the world’s view, the following video does a perfect job at capturing the essence of Supra ownership. To own a Supra is to be apart of the elite JDM community, a vehicle that all desire. Known along side of the Nissan Skyline as “Godzilla”, this beast from the east can quickly blow competition clean off the track. The inline six cylinder design coupled with a forced induction system is lethal at creating power and destroying quarter mile and top speed runs. Enjoy the following video, this is by far the best Supra video I have seen next to the original “unseen” Bollea Supra montage. Read more at Tampa Sports Car Examiner!
